There are a couple web-based administration tools that come with Tomcat, but you have to set up the admin and manager access first. This is done by adding a line to tomcat-users.xml:
[root@srv-1 conf]# pwd /opt/tomcat/conf [root@srv-1 conf]# vi tomcat-users.xml |
Add the line with admin,manager in it:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <tomcat-users> <role rolename="tomcat"/> <role rolename="role1"/> <user username="tomcat" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat"/> <user username="role1" password="tomcat" roles="role1"/> <user username="both" password="tomcat" roles="tomcat,role1"/> <user name="ad" password="pw" roles="admin,manager" /> </tomcat-users> |
Of course, pick a better name and password. :) Note that the paths in this article are based on the Tomcat install we did in this article. You will need to restart Tomcat for the changes to take effect:
[root@srv-1 bin]# pwd /opt/tomcat/bin [root@srv-1 bin]# ./shutdown.sh Using CATALINA_BASE: /opt/tomcat Using CATALINA_HOME: /opt/tomcat Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /opt/tomcat/temp Using JAVA_HOME: /opt/j2sdk [root@srv-1 bin]# ./startup.sh Using CATALINA_BASE: /opt/tomcat Using CATALINA_HOME: /opt/tomcat Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /opt/tomcat/temp Using JAVA_HOME: /opt/j2sdk [root@srv-1 bin]# |
